Freeland brush fires
Some brush fires erupted just south of Freeland along hwy 525 just after Noon today. Highway 525 was closed at approx 1PM to allow firefighters to combat the blaze. A Whidbey island resident took some images of the Whidbey Island brush fires as she was stopped along the highway.
With historically dry weather across the western United States, conditions are primed for fires to erupt anytime there is open flames around brush and foliage. Please use caution with your fireworks this year, or better yet, avoid lighting any at all as the current wildfire conditions are extremely dangerous.
